Utter heartbreak

Last week we were talking about having a family day. Spending the whole day as a family, playing games, going to lunch, etc.

M was so excited, she started making plans for her family party, wanting to make lemonade, practicing with her "band", finding the perfect dress, all the big party stuff. Thursday I began to suspect she had made this into way more than it was. I talked to her and tried to explain that it was just going to be she, A, mommy & daddy. That didn't work.

Friday morning comes and oh boy, she just cried and cried and cried that her whole family wasn't here. She wanted so bad to see all her family and serve them lemonade and play music for them. She wanted her two pair of gramas and grampas, her 10 cousins, all her aunts and uncles.

Maybe someday.

Awww...It's amazing how kids get something in their head and can't give it up. It is similar to what I learned working in retail - true or not, the customer's perception IS reality.
